Spell Bound

Happy Halloween Friends!

The witchy woman made it home after some mishaps along the way...

and after casting a few spells on those who crossed her path...

she decided to hang up her boots and...

flouncy skirt ~ which somehow changed from white to black...magic!

At home the cauldrons were brewing a misty fog of potions {and the critters just loved that!}.

Marinated skulls and keys to the dungeon led us to a party of...

goblins floating and dancing amongst the black beaded wrought iron chandeliers...

What did they leave us?  Oooooh!  Goblin Goo...

But the best is yet to come...Vampire Vino and...

decadent chocolate chip and Kahlua cupcakes topped with frothy buttercream icing and dark chocolate sprinkles.

Delicious!

I hope you all had a fabulous Halloween weekend full of tasty treats.

As always, thank you for your visit to my laboratory.

Ciao amici,
Suzanne

Black Velvet...

...black lace, rhinestones, and pearls.

In the dim light of the moon pouring through the windows...

my dressed up black and white Halloween puts a spin on the traditional orange, purple, and black colours.

This proud ivory crow sports a dashing rhinestone necktie while surrounded by black lace and cream coloured squash, oops, pumpkins.

With all this black and white inspiration surrounding me, I came up with some pretty jewelry totes that I made this week.

Each is made with black linen and white cotton twill.  I used a pretty linen blouse that I no longer wore to get the soft scalloped edges on the top of each tote.

Then of course, I had to add one of my signature cotton {and linen} millinery flowers each hand stitched with a mother of pearl button, to the front of each bag.

A polka dot grosgrain ribbon tie and loop cinches the tote at the top, while a pretty black organza bow, silver quilting pin, cotton tag with a crown and tiara hand stamped in black ink on each finish the precious jewelry purse perfectly.

I will be listing these in my Etsy shop this week and they will also be available on My Front Porch.

Meanwhile, the witchy woman of the house pulls her white pearls out of one of the jewelry bags and begins adorning herself with all the prettiest accessories ~ including a flouncy white ruffled skirt and black velvet vest with sparkly buttons.

She's ready to fly!

OOOPS!

Poor Gal, lost her way in the moonlight.

After she recovers, I am sure she will have more to tell you in the coming days...

Have a fun week friends and in the meantime while we rescue the witchy woman, be sure to visit all the fabulous "White Wednesday" blogs.

Autumn Delights

Wishing you a weekend filled with...

{My six year old made this photo with my Canon SD 1000.  I have not retouched it or cropped it ~ it's all his work.  I have made some fun Zazzle products with this image, which are available in my shop now.  Shhh...I already purchased one for someone else in this family.}

relaxing drives along winding mountain roads where smiling faces greet you,

and the fall colour explodes all along the way.

{The little rascal also made this amazing blazing photograph.}

Back home freshly baked treats await hungry mouths!

Warm peanut butterscotch chip cookies ready to be gobbled up...

But not too many,

because most had to be wrapped up as treats for the Fall Festival bake sale today at school.

This adorable vintage postcard image I used for the hang tags tied with natural raffia on each yummy bag of cookies.

With Photoshop I scaled the postcard to size and then added the text in a funky font describing the treats.  Printed on a matte finish heavy weight paper stock was a perfect texture for the "new" vintage tag.

Here's one for you...

and, "A Jolly pre-Halloween" weekend to you!

Suzanne

Twelve Months of Cottage Porches

Make a date!

...and take a twelve month tour in 2011 of some of my favorite porches on my charming cottage calendar.

I previewed my first annual My Front Porch ~ 2011 Calendar on My Front Porch blog recently, but wanted to share it with you here as well.  It's been so much fun collecting my photographs and creating these calendars for my Zazzle shop.

The images I have selected for this calendar are from my photography collection entitled Sit Down! They include those taken with my SLR camera while studying in Italy, from travels in Mexico, Switzerland, Paris, those towns close to my own home town of San Francisco, as well as some from other beautiful parts of the United States including rural Georgia and the mountains of North Carolina...oh, and of course my favorite spot of sand and sea air ~ the gorgeous Emerald Coast. The newer images were made with my digital camera ~ however, they are not re-touched.

Here is a sneak peek at what you will see each month:

January ~ February
March ~ April

May ~ June
July ~ August

September ~ October
November ~ December

Lucky for me it got rave reviews on Zazzle.  I hope you like it too and the photographs will inspire you to sit down and relax a bit throughout the year.

Please visit A House in the Roses for more sweet views of enchanted and charming cottages.

As always, thank you for stopping by.  Treasure each day and enjoy.

Naturally...WHITE

...and a heartfelt thank you.

But first, please take a peek at one of my new 2011 calendars ~
"Naturally...W H I T E"
~ which I have just finished designing for my Zazzle store.

 January ~ February
March ~ April

The images I have selected for this new 2011 calendar were chosen from my original colour photography collection on Flickr also entitled, “Naturally…WHITE” and include some of my most popular photographs, several of which have been published in Somerset Life and most recently, Romantic HOMES.

Month by month you will enjoy delicate winter blooms of pansies and paper whites; vintage cotton and sparkly rhinestones; smooth pearls and pumpkins; fresh daisies and spring chick-lets; seaside sea stars; and a harvest soft as Georgia cotton.

  May ~ June
July ~ August

I hope you will find the beauty in the purity of all the shades and textures of natural white, as I have in these photographs.

September ~ October
November ~ December

Now, it is fitting that on this "White Wednesday" I give a heartfelt thank you to someone who has so graciously linked my blog on recent post of hers because of some mutual recognition we have both received this month.

Romantic HOMES has set their "sites" on us {and some other fabulous sites} and "love" what they are seeing! You will love Maria's Dreamy Whites blog, along with all the others. I am so proud to be included with these talented photographers, writers, and designers.

Thank you Romantic HOMES.

So glad you stopped by, as always.
Treasure each day and enjoy.
